„Angel and the Badman“ is a 1947 Western film written and directed by James Edward Grant.

Quirt Evans horse is wounded and collapses in front of the homestead of Quaker Thomas Worth. Thomas and his daughter Penelope drive Quirt into town in their wagon, to the telegraph station, and he wires a claim to the land recorder’s office. The telegraph operator, Bradley, tells Penny that Quirt is a famous gunman, and a ladies’ man.

At the Worths’, Dr. Mangram treats a delirious Quirt. Once Quirt has recovered consciousness, Penny explains the family’s belief in non-violence.

Laredo Stevens and three men ride into town looking for Quirt. Penny’s younger brother, Johnny, warns Quirt. Quirt checks his gun and discovers that it has been emptied just as Stevens’s gang arrives. Training his weapon on the doorway, Quirt calmly greets Laredo and his gang. Thinking that Quirt has the upper hand, Laredo offers to buy his claim.

Afterward, Penny begs Quirt to stay. Frederick Carson dammed the stream running through the valley, draining the Worths’ irrigation ditches, and Quirt intimidates Carson into opening the dam.

Marshal Wistful McClintock asks Quirt about a stagecoach robbery. The Worth family swears that Quirt was with them at the time.

Penny and Quirt meet Quirt’s friend, Randy McCall. At the Worth family to a Quaker meeting, Thomas presents Quirt with a Bible in gratitude for his role in ending the water feud with Carson.

Quirt and Randy steal the herd from the original rustlers, then celebrate with showgirls Lila Neal and Christine Taylor. Penny is hurt because she thinks that Quirt prefers Lila, but Quirt proposes to her. They are ambushed and chased by Laredo and Hondo Jeffries. Their wagon plunges over a cliff into the river.

Quirt is waiting for Laredo and Hondo in the street. Penny convinces Quirt to surrender his gun to her. As Laredo and Hondo draw their guns, McClintock shoots them both. Quirt, swearing off his former life of violence to McClintock, rides off in the wagon with Penny.

Quirt Evans Pferd wird verwundet und bricht vor dem Gehöft des Quäkers Thomas Worth zusammen. Thomas und seine Tochter Penelope fahren Quirt in ihrem Wagen in die Stadt zur Telegrafenstation, wo er einen Anspruch an das Büro des Landschreibers übermittelt. Der Telegrafist Bradley erzählt Penny, dass Quirt ein berühmter Revolverheld und ein Frauenheld ist.

Bei den Worths behandelt Dr. Mangram einen im Delirium befindlichen Quirt. Nachdem Quirt das Bewusstsein wiedererlangt hat, erklärt Penny den Glauben der Familie an die Gewaltlosigkeit.

Laredo Stevens und drei Männer reiten in die Stadt und suchen nach Quirt. Pennys jüngerer Bruder, Johnny, warnt Quirt. Quirt prüft seine Waffe und stellt fest, dass sie gerade leer ist, als Stevens’ Bande eintrifft. Quirt richtet seine Waffe auf die Tür und begrüßt Laredo und seine Bande ruhig. Da er glaubt, dass Quirt die Oberhand hat, bietet Laredo an, seinen Anspruch zu kaufen.

Danach fleht Penny Quirt an, zu bleiben. Frederick Carson hat den Bach, der durch das Tal fließt, aufgestaut und damit die Bewässerungsgräben der Worths trockengelegt, und Quirt schüchtert Carson ein, den Damm zu öffnen.

Marshal Wistful McClintock befragt Quirt zu einem Postkutschenüberfall. Die Familie Worth schwört, dass Quirt zu dieser Zeit bei ihnen war.

Penny und Quirt treffen Quirts Freund, Randy McCall. Bei einem Quäkertreffen der Familie Worth überreicht Thomas Quirt eine Bibel als Dank für seine Rolle bei der Beendigung der Wasserfehde mit Carson.

Quirt und Randy stehlen die Herde von den ursprünglichen Viehdieben und feiern anschließend mit den Showgirls Lila Neal und Christine Taylor. Penny ist verletzt, weil sie glaubt, dass Quirt Lila bevorzugt, aber Quirt macht ihr einen Heiratsantrag. Sie geraten in einen Hinterhalt und werden von Laredo und Hondo Jeffries gejagt. Ihr Wagen stürzt über eine Klippe in den Fluss.

Quirt wartet auf Laredo und Hondo auf der Straße. Penny überredet Quirt, ihr seine Waffe zu überlassen. Als Laredo und Hondo ihre Waffen ziehen, erschießt McClintock sie beide. Quirt schwört McClintock sein früheres Leben der Gewalt ab und fährt mit Penny im Wagen davon.
