„Hercules“ (Le fatiche di Ercole) is a 1958 mythological adventure movie directed by Pietro Francisci. The screenplay by Pietro Francisci, Ennio De Concini and Gaio Frattini is based on Francisci’s adaption of the greek poem „Argonautica; Ἀργοναυτικά“ by Apollonius of Rhodes.

The muscular Hercules performs his Labors, sails with the Argonauts, and romances the fair Iole.
In this melange of characters and events from separate mythological stories, Hercules, demigod and super-human, arrives in the ancient Greek kingdom of Iolcus to tutor Iphitus, son of king Pelias; immediately on arrival, he falls in love with the king’s delectable, briefly clad daughter Iole. Before he can win her, he must succeed in a series of quests, in the course of which he teams up with Jason, true heir of Iolcus, whom he accompanies on the famous voyage of the Argonauts.

Das Drehbuch von Pietro Francisci, Ennio De Concini und Gaio Frattini basiert auf Franciscis Adaption des griechischen Gedichts „Argonautika; Ἀργοναυτικά“ von Apollonius von Rhodos.

Der muskulöse Herkules verrichtet seine Taten, segelt mit den Argonauten und liebt die schöne Iole.
In dieser Mischung aus Figuren und Ereignissen aus verschiedenen mythologischen Geschichten kommt Herkules, Halbgott und Übermensch, in das antike griechische Königreich Iolcus, um Iphitos, den Sohn von König Pelias, zu unterrichten; gleich nach seiner Ankunft verliebt er sich in die entzückende, knapp bekleidete Königstochter Iole. Bevor er sie für sich gewinnen kann, muss er eine Reihe von Aufgaben lösen, bei denen er sich mit Jason, dem wahren Erben von Iolcus, zusammentut, den er auf der berühmten Reise der Argonauten begleitet.
