„Wicked As They Come“ is a 1956 film noir mystery drama film directed by Ken Hughes, who also wrote the screenplay together with Robert Westerby and Sigmund Miller, based on the the 1950 novel „Portrait in Smoke“ by Bill S. Ballinger.

Slum-dweller Dahl decides she is destined for a better life. Her two goals are to be a great success and to use men in any way she possibly can to succeed. A beauty contest is fixed in her favor, and from there it s a few short steps up the ladder. She marries the successful head of a large corporation, but accidentally shoots him and ends up in a Paris jail.

Ein Schönheitswettbewerb wird zu ihren Gunsten entschieden, und von da an sind es nur noch ein paar Schritte auf der Karriereleiter. Sie heiratet den erfolgreichen Chef eines großen Unternehmens, erschießt ihn aber versehentlich und landet in einem Pariser Gefängnis.
