„Tunes of Glory“ is a 1960 drama film directed by Ronald Neame from a screenplay by James Kennaway, that is based on his 1956 novel of the same name.

After World War II, a Highland Regiment’s acting Commanding Officer, who rose from the ranks, is replaced by a peace-time Oxford-educated Commanding Officer, leading to a dramatic conflict between the two.
Major Jock Sinclair has been in this Highland regiment since he joined as a boy piper. During World War II, as Second-in-Command, he was made acting Commanding Officer. Now the regiment has returned to Scotland, and a new commanding officer is to be appointed. Jock’s own cleverness is pitted against his new C.O., his daughter, his girlfriend, and the other officers in the Mess.

„Einst ein Held“ (Tunes of Glory) ist ein Drama von 1960 unter der Regie von Ronald Neame nach einem Drehbuch von James Kennaway, das auf seinem gleichnamigen Roman von 1956 basiert.

Nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg wird der amtierende Kommandeur eines Hochlandregiments, der aus den eigenen Reihen aufgestiegen ist, durch einen in Oxford ausgebildeten Kommandeur aus Friedenszeiten ersetzt, was zu einem dramatischen Konflikt zwischen den beiden führt.
Major Jock Sinclair ist in diesem Highland-Regiment, seit er als Dudelsackspieler in die Armee eingetreten ist. Während des Zweiten Weltkriegs wurde er als Second-in-Command zum stellvertretenden Kommandeur ernannt. Nun ist das Regiment nach Schottland zurückgekehrt, und es soll ein neuer Kommandeur ernannt werden. Jocks eigene Klugheit wird gegen seinen neuen Vorgesetzten, seine Tochter, seine Freundin und die anderen Offiziere in der Messe ausgespielt.
