Monty Python’s Spamalot
Monty Python’s Spamalot
The Knights of King Arthur’s Round Table go questing for the Holy Grail but find their path thwarted by … flying cows? Evil rabbits? Vegas showgirls? Terrifying knights who say “Ni”?
No this isn’t “ye olde” King Arthur of British myth. Rather it’s “Spamalot,” the Arthurian legend as roughed up by comedian Eric Idle and his fellow members of Monty Python, that irreverent, quirky, absurdist British comedy troupe.
Idle was the sparkplug responsible for transforming the 1975 film “Monty Python and the Holy Grail” into the Broadway musical. With a book by Idle (that he says he “lovingly ripped off” from the movie), and with music and lyrics by Idle and John Du Prez, the play won three Tony Awards in 2005, including Best Musical.
The Playhouse cast includes Robert O. Dimsey as King Arthur, Danny Crile as Sir Robin, Robert Baldwin as Sir Lancelot, Henry Orlowski as Patsy, Terence Van Auken as Sir Galahad, Jack Rose as Sir Bedevere, Alexa Baldwin as the Lady of the Lake and Daniel Olszewski as Prince Herbert/Not Dead Fred.

The play features live music.
